Years teaching: 34

Years at OLF: 25

Degrees/Colleges:  B.A. in Elementary Education from Holy Family College (now University) in Philadelphia, PA

Credential(s): Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential

Certifications/Special Training: I have taken innumerable classes, workshops, and seminars in all subject areas, including Religion.

Professional Experiences: In Philadelphia, while I was in college, I was a volunteer in a special education class.  After graduation, I taught 2nd and 3rd grade for 9 years.  After moving to California in 1986, I came to OLF and have been the 4th grade teacher.  At OLF, I have also taught 5th grade Social Studies.  After my 20th year aboard the brig Pilgrim with classes of OLF Students, I was awarded a certificate as an Honorary Captain.

About my family:  I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA.  I was an only child, but I have many relatives in the Philadelphia/New Jersey area.  I am married to Kevin, who is a retired Philadelphia police officer.  We have one daughter, Bridgette, who works in Chicago.  She is a producer for “The Oprah Winfrey Show”.  My mom moved to California in 2008 and she lives with us.  We have one cat and one 23-year-old turtle.  Our five grand puppies live in Chicago with Bridgette.

Fun Facts, Hobbies:  Since I was a child, I have been a fan of Michael Landon.  When I was in high school, I met him in person.  I had my picture taken with him and he even signed my Michael Landon scrapbook.  After we moved to California, I had the opportunity to be invited into his home.  I have also met the cast of “Seinfeld” and have a photo of Jay Leno and myself in one of his cars.  I spent two summers working in the Cash Department of the Federal Reserve Bank.  My duties included operating a money counting machine and determining which bills could be destroyed.  Some hobbies that I enjoy are:  going to the beach, reading, baking, listening to music, and spending time with family, pets, and friends.
