Degrees/Colleges: I attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.  I later pursued a Masters in Counseling at Texas Prairie View A & M University and participated in studies at Houston Community College, University of Phoenix, Ottawa University, and the University of San Diego.

Credential(s): I currently hold valid teaching credentials in Texas, Indiana, and California.  I have also obtained a clear Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development Certificate.

Certifications/Special Training:I completed thirty six hours of Gifted and Talented enrichment training, served on the Curriculum Writing Committee for the Klein Independent School District Language Arts Curriculum Guide, was a Mentor Teacher responsible for new teacher training, Trauma Team member, Alice Nine Johnny Can Spell – Johnny Can Write and Grammar Applications training, second grade chairman of the Science Committee, Texas Parks and Wildlife Project Wild and Aquatic Wild facilitator, Nutrition Health and Safe Environment training, Multisensory Grammar Strategies, and Great Books leader training course.

Professional Experiences:This is my fifteenth year of teaching.  I have had the opportunity to teach grades Pre-K, K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th.  I have enjoyed teaching gifted and talented, as well as at-risk students.  I have served as a member of the Kaiser Campus Instructional Development Council, OLF Consultative Board, and WCEA/WASC Leadership Team Chairman.

About my family:My family and I have lived in Texas, Arizona, and California.  We moved to California from Texas about five years ago.  My husband’s name is Jorge.  We have two sets of twins, Justin and Jordan, age 13 and Jenna and Jaryn, age 10.  We also have a chocolate lab named Java.

Hobbies: I enjoy hiking on the area trails with my children and our dog Java, snow skiing, horseback riding, riding dirt bikes in the desert, and collecting antiques.  This summer I hiked six miles into the Grand Canyon with my family.  What an exciting adventure!

Fun Facts: Completed Advanced Lifesaving and Water Safety course, served as a lifeguard, and provided private swimming instruction.  Toured Europe and performed as a member of the United States Collegiate Wind Band.
