At Our Lady of Fatima Academy, we strive to provide our students with the latest technology to enhance their learning experience. Our Kindergarden-4th grade students are equipped with a 1:1 student to iPad ratio, while our 5th-8th grade students have a 1:1 student to Chromebook ratio. This allows for personalized and interactive learning in the classroom.
We also use Apple AirPlay projectors in every classroom, which allows teachers to display various educational videos, slide show presentations, and more to engage students in an interactive and dynamic learning experience. Having the ability to display multimedia on the classroom whiteboard, allows teachers to create a more immersive and engaging experience for students. This helps them to better understand the material and retain information, making it easier to visualize concepts and ideas. It also allows students to collaborate and participate in class discussions and activities more easily, as well as providing opportunities for interactive learning, which is known to be more effective than traditional methods.
One of the key tools that we use in our technology curriculum is the Freckle App. Freckle is an online learning platform that allows students to practice Math and English Language Arts at their own level. The platform continuously adapts to each student’s individual skills, providing them with the appropriate challenge whether they’re working at, above, or below grade level.
In addition to Freckle, all students at Our Lady of Fatima Academy participate in STAR testing. STAR is designed as an assessment tool to measure students’ knowledge and skills that are identified in the California content standards. The STAR assesses knowledge in English-language arts, mathematics, history-social studies and science, and integrates with Freckle to properly place each student at their appropriate level.

Our Lady of Fatima Academy uses the Superkids Reading Program to enhance our K-2nd grade students’ literacy skills. This comprehensive English language arts curriculum captivates students with tales of relatable characters, the Superkids, and their ongoing adventures.
The program follows a unique systematic and explicit instructional path through engaging and increasingly complex text, using evidence-based literacy practices. It allows students to learn at their own pace and be aligned with the California content standards.
Superkids Reading Program is an essential part of Our Lady of Fatima Academy’s technology curriculum, it complements our 1:1 student to iPad ratio and STAR testing, allowing our students to be well-prepared for their future education.
